Never go to a party empty handed!
Do you need to know what what wine to bring you this Holiday Season? Look here for my top picks!
"Tis the time of the year to "drink darker" if you haven't yet switched over from summery wines.
My absolute top pick of the season is Josh Cellars Merlot. The low acidity in this dry red, with hints of cherry, plum and chocolate, make it very easily drinkable and pleasurable on the palate.
Not a dark red enthusiast? I'll meet you half way with my two favorite Rosés. Both of them are deliciously crisp French wines, with my favorite being (M. Chapouttier) Bellaruche, followed La Petite Perrier.
Insisting on a white wine, are you? For a crisp white, my favorite is Ferrari Carano’s Sauvignon Blanc. Delightfully complex, it’s fruitiness can almost give a sense of “sweetness” without being sweet. Seaglass also makes a really nice Sauvignon Blanc, if you can't find Ferrari Carano or are looking for a slightly less expensive option.
For those of you who insist on sticking to your sweet wine (and for those of you who follow me, you know that I"m not a sweet wine drinker), I like to keep on hand, what tends to be a crowd pleaser, which is Mirassou's Moscato, which I, myself, can be found occasionally sipping in the summer.
If you're looking to splurge a bit without breaking the bank then I suggest one of my favorite dry reds, Bellaruche, which hails from the French region of Cotes du Rhône. However, I must add the caveat, that I've found the 2016 is too acidic, so I recommend 2015 and prior.
Again, if you'd like to splurge without breaking the bank, but you're looking to purchase a white wine then I suggest Inama Vin Soave, which is a truly wonderful Italian wine that tends to please both dry and sweet drinkers.
I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season!
Cheers!
Forever Fangirling,
Erica
